It is believed to be the starting point ie first temple of lord ganesha in the eight temples of the Ashtavinayak yatra.Temple was built by Subhedar Gole, the construction of temple was done during Adil Shahi period.

Becouse of this Lord Ganesh  got the name Mayureshwar here.Due to the large number of peacocks in this village, it is named as Morgaon
